Prizes and Awards
The Annual VIBS-RODOPI Book Prize
The VIBS Office of Prizes and Awards, directed by Associate Editor Kenneth Bryson, announces an annual competition for a $1,000 book
award prize.
The Value Inquiry Book Series (VIBS) and publishing
company RODOPI are pleased to announce the first VIBS-RODOPI book prize
competition for the best unpublished manuscript submission in the area of
value inquiry. The winning entry will be seen to make a significant
contribution to the field of value inquiry. Dissertations are not
eligible. The winning entry will be awarded $1,000 U.S. and a VIBS-RODOPI
certificate of merit. The closing date of the competition is 1 October of
each year. The prize is not necessarily awarded every year. The winner of the
competition and the identity of the independent judges are announced on
this site.
The judging for the competition will be conducted by an
independent board of reviewers.
The publisher, Rodopi, reserves the right to publish, under its standard terms, any book submitted for this competition. A copy of the standard
contract is available upon request.
You may direct enquiries to the Editor Prizes and Awards or to any member
of the VIBS Editorial Board.
Please use the Entry Form provided here.

for a full year. The winning entry will be determined by ballot.
Contest Rules
(1) Every editor has one vote. No one votes twice.
(2) Editors are not allowed to vote for books they have edited.
(3) The publication that receives the greatest number of votes wins the
competition.
(4) In the case of a tie, two (or more) winners will be declared.

The Certificate of Accomplishment
VIBS awards a certificate of accomplishment with emeritus
designation for
retiring editors who have made an outstanding contribution to the VIBS
mission statement. The editor emeritus honorific is to be bestowed upon
retirement to editors who have exceptionally distinguished themselves in
their service to Rodopi's VIBS. Appointees will be entitled to a listing as
associate editor emeritus or executive editor emeritus (depending on the
case) on all VIBS books, and entitled to perpetual listing on this page.
Retiring editors may be nominated for the emeritus honorific by any
associate or executive editor. The nomination shall be accompanied by a
rationale and other appropriate documentation. Please send your nominations
to the VIBS office of Prizes and Awards. The issue shall be decided by a
majority vote of all votes cast.
In 2003, Bob Ginsberg, executive editor emeritus, was
recognized for his years of service to VIBS. He is a founding member of VIBS.
On December 28, 2003, at a reception held in his honor, he was presented
with a commemorative scroll designed by Dr Mary-Rose Barral.
External Grants and Awards
The Office of Prizes and Awards actively seeks out external
award

nominated by the Editors for appropriate awards. The Office of Prizes and
Awards also pursues grants.
